Am doing the thing everyone says not to do… writing a new novel instead of finishing the old one 🤷🏻♀️
Someday I hope I’ll rewrite it. There are just too many foundational problems due to me being at lower skill level when I started compared to now.

Am doing the thing everyone says not to do… writing a new novel instead of finishing the old one 🤷🏻♀️

Halfway thru drafting the book, and realizing that one character should’ve been unalived in chapter 2… the urge to revise mid-draft… it’s too strong 😭

Just finished Don’t Let the Forest In by C.G. Drews, and wow…. one of THE best books I’ve read in a long time. My head is still spinning from that ending. The lush prose, memorable characters, haunting dark academia setting… all absolutely phenomenal.

Met my goal today to finish the chapter I was writing! Celebrating small wins 🎉
After countless attempts at outlines that just didn’t work, a 20k-word failed pantsing attempt, and a whole lot of experimentation with different story structures, I’ve finally done it: outlined my first novel from start to finish!
Feeling on top of the world. Now comes the writing :)

I know practice is essential to growth. But I don’t want to just practice — I want to practice in the right way. Figure out exactly how the experts got good, and then try to replicate the process myself.
But what exactly is that right way?
Hope someday I can figure it out.
