According to my in-house expert on con law, there was never the slightest chance that cert would be granted in this case. This SCOTUS may yet find a vehicle for limiting the right to marry, but this was never going to be that vehicle. The breathless coverage of the cert petition was uncalled for.

High interest reduces demand even when real estate prices are down, when supply is plentiful. Not good for anybody. Well, except banks. 2/2

I didn’t realize you were selling. Yes, it’s a tough market for sellers. Mortgage interest rates, while not high by historical standards, are higher than they’ve been in decades. I can’t sell either, b/c I’d have to pay the same mortgage for a much less expensive place, so why move? 1/

A surplus of supply is necessary
to make affordable housing possible. If stuff is sitting on the market the owners will have to either lower their price or take the ongoing loss of maintaining non-performing property. If they’re holding out for better prices, increasing supply forces their hands

Por qué no los dos? We need housing today. We also need to ensure that somebody working full time can afford rent, food, and healthcare, and be able to live without the crushing weight of poverty. But there will always be the sick, the involuntarily unemployed, and others who need housing safety
