It’s Tuna’s house and we are lucky to be living in it.

So happy to finally give her the backyard she deserves.

Happy Halloween from our lil Smokey, Tuna! 🌭 🎃

Most probably guessed from my vague posts, but we officially closed on our first home today!

Is it haunted? Hopefully, since it’s exactly one hundred years old.
Does Tuna have a yard now? Yes!!!

Our realtor even painted our home for us, and it will hang in our home 🏡 ♥️🪴

I don’t generally rate books 3 stars (at least publicly because of the algorithm), nor do I usually write GoodReads reviews. Today, I felt the call.

I am spending today playing around with polymer—this little guy is currently in our oven!

You all know I love novelty cookbooks. We had several on our wedding registry, and I’ve posted about some of them before.

Well, I think I have found the crown jewel of my collection.

My three honorable mentions were ROSEMARY’S BABY by Ira Levin (no explanation needed), THE GATHERING by CJ Tudor (an Alaskan police procedural where vampires are real and considered endangered species), and HEADLESS by Scott Cole (a terrifying pandemic that causes people’s heads to…explode).

CHURCH OF FRENDO is the conclusion to the CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD trilogy. It’s no secret I am a fan of Adam’s, but this was his finest work. It’s disgusting, hilarious, and I will be honest: heartbreaking. Get this series for any spooky teen you know.

NIGHTWATCHING is a thriller that will haunt me for many years. So much tension, gaslighting, and downright terrifying moments for the mom and her children. Everytime you think it’s over, it isn’t.

FLOATING HOTEL is a masterclass in shifting character narratives, about a group of misfits that all work for, you guessed it, a floating hotel. I was instantly sucked in by the characters, and stayed for the heartwarming antics, especially a character who is coded as autistic.

THE Z WORD is a hysterical dystopian tale set during a zombie outbreak at Pride, which deals with rainbow capitalism. Highly recommend for Sunshine alone.

On our way home, we had to stop at Buc-ee’s, and while we were there, Tuna got to meet a potbelly pig named Van! 🦫 🐽 ⛽️

Supposedly, the new owner of the horrid historical home (who also owns the Lizzie Borden House) wants to convert it into a haunted hotel—the locals are curious to see if the Vieux Carre will allow it.

Desire and I were not big fans of the LaLaurie Mansion—which is not a museum, and sold for a whooping $6.6 million last month—but we did enjoy our time together on tonight’s carriage ride.

After the bookstore, we hit some major tourist spots to do Christmas and just because gift shopping before our haunted carriage tour tonight!

We then visited Faulkner House Books, recommended by my fav HS teacher, in the aptly named Pirates Alley. The wonderful bookshop owner gifted us a photo project book done by local photographers! She had a whole bookcase of Beats books, and a signed photo by Harper Lee, too.

We had a blast on our first excursion—a donut and beignet tour—and got to hang out with two very nice families. One of the moms and I split our last beignets (not pictured: a churro and s’more one) so we could try different ones, too. During the tour, our guides showed us two Free Little Libraries!

Student, across a busy library during Gopher Block: MISS KIEFER!
Me: Yes?!
Student: [holds up a snow man from our first ever Fibers Friday]
Me: Aww, it’s so cute—
Student, still yelling across the library: IT HAS A BUTT CRACK.
