a.k.a Tom.
Writer, father, book lover. Chronicling my journey from amateur to author whilst working full time.
Lover of fantasy, sci-fi, and non fiction.
I think the problem is actually different to what you say. I think they can synthesise and create in very impressive ways. But it remains unintelligent (that is, it is still blind to what it is doing).
Ultimately, it still needs a human to translate any output into something of any value.

This is definitely the real concern with the LLMs as they don't actually have any intelligence - that is, no calibration of the content. This is why human writer's will always be so important

Expectations definitely need to be a bit different.
Although days when I can't fit in any writing feel like a fail.

A bit of both.
A rough "feel" that gets attacked by spontaneity.

Cool. I'll have to check it out

This is probably the first writing tip to be embedded

Aragorn knew how to stare people away.

I could do with mastering that glare

Although it's not the main reason they are better

Interesting idea.

I can imagine getting hunted by some fantasy beasts is no fun.

I'd probably just starve to death though!

Tell me more.

Why would you recommend it over others?

I need to catch up on this. Heard a lot of good stuff

Interesting. I agree with you about the actual writing. I think it is quite hard to draw such a clear distinction before that. We get our ideas from all over the place, mostly from other work.
Is it that different if we use AI?
(I did say that it was a provocative topic)

Do you think there is any role in using it as a support tool?

For stuff like idea generation and the like.
July 15, 2025 at 2:27 PM
Yes I think it could be.

I am interested as to how easily that boundary might start to break down.

The odd turn of phrase that gets borrowed, etc.

A very good point- I wasn't specific enough.

I was meaning to support. But in this is my impression that the lines may start to blur.

You can push AI a bit further than many other tools and you can do this slowly, without always noticing
