A finely detailed, monochromatic charcoal drawing (24" x 36" on yellowed, cheap, non-archival newsprint paper, unmatted and unframed, with tattered edges) of a leaf from a pin oak tree, riddled with minute holes where bugs have eaten it away between it's veining. There is a dramatic play of light and shadow across the page, echoed by the sweeping lines of the leaf margins. Titled "Impermanence," referring to both the subject and the lack of preservation of the drawing itself, it asks the viewer to consider if the ephemeral in nature doesn't just increase the natural world's loveliness, but also implore us on a subconscious level to give greater effort to its preservation. 22 gauge copper plate with a stylized rose blossom, stem, and leaf in low- to medium-relief, created using repoussé and chasing techniques, and given a patina with a brief aqueous liver of sulfur solution bath, and lots of burnishing.

An adolescent cat, that is somehow both stripey and spotty, gray and black and white and off-white. She is stretched out on her side/back, sleeping with her pink and black toe beans to the sky, laying in a patch of sunlight on a fuzzy gray blanket. She's the purest expression of indolence, and chaos in repose.

But I'm also pretty proud of this one (although, now I'm realizing I could maybe expand my subject matter 😅).
Side angle view of a silver, three dimensional rose made by cutting flat blanks from a sheet of steel, forming and texturing those blanks to resemble petals and sepals, and assembling the petals on the threaded end of thin, textured, bar stock (also steel) with an acorn nut (which is largely hidden by the innermost whorl of petals.) Construction requires a forge and anvil. Closer look at the shiny, silver, three dimensional steel rose, highlighting the hammer marks used to create texture on the petals and sepals.
