They should play on that though, Joe so a promo about the fact he thinks a bit of Eddie died when he got that injury. That he lost belief, lost a step, that he’s not the same Eddie, that he’s already a beaten man. It’s the kind of promo Joe does brilliantly and then sets up an Eddie response.

He might lose to Claudio, but I don’t think that means Claudio becomes the group leader. As I said, Claudio has always been the guy who loses to the top guys, doesn’t get the big opportunities, is the guy to have good matches, work elsewhere too but reliable mid carder. Would be surprised.

as much as I’m not a fan of WWE, that’s not really true. He had some big matches with Rollins and Reigns before he left. Plus he’s just a heater in Death Riders, I wouldn’t say he’s a star (how many AEW PPV singles matches has he had?) He clearly gets more opps to work variety of places.

Not sure I agree on the Cody run sucking - had some really good stuff with Owens, AJ etc. Excellent matches and business. It was this year that has sucked, and we’ve seen that in a lot of the metrics.
But the face chase is always more attractive, look at Austin and how long he held the title for.

Partly because he’s had nothing to do with- no feuds, no direction, he’s just become a second Yuta. When really, he should be the guy who’s the new leader of the Death Riders.

There’s repeated lessons of, if you want to run shows laid out like this, start earlier. Plus, surprisingly for AEW there was a lot of similar matches tonight which tired the crowd out more than usual.

It just feels like it goes round in circles a bit and there’s no real character development. The booking of Omega this year has been absolutely baffling. Just feels a little lazy.

I’d agree. I felt similar about Ethan Page. Some people are just better suited elsewhere. She has a bit of personality and is average in ring, which means she’s much better suited to WWE/NXT.

Indeed but someone like Andretti not going anywhere has nothing to do with him. He may have influence over his programmes (as all the top stars do) but he’s not booking the show.

He wasn’t the booker in any of those situations though so I’m not sure blame goes to him on that. He lost comprehensively to a lot of people who they then did little with. Is it his fault they did nothing with Andretti?!
