Zoom has great handheld recorders that you can put external mics in. Record straight to card. I took mine to my nephews orchestra concert. The audio was so crisp and clean it was like reliving the experience. I have a book bag that is a mobile studio. Super basic, use Adobe audition.

Got rid of Microsoft and now I just use Google suite.
