Rolling with the Youth available now at IPR!

I also got to drop off a copy of Rolling with the Youth for the @TabletopGaymers.bsky.social giveaway. It got bundled with A Constructs Nature and won by a lovely science teacher excited to bring games into their classroom!

Even though it's been a few years, I always stop by @ipr.bsky.social and snag a picture of Rolling with the Youth in the wild. Between that, Tiny Tome 2, and Making A TTRPG for Your Kid, I've technically contributed to 3 books at the booth! Two of them were just one page, but I say it counts 😆

Got to run the Queer Coven RPG by @9thLevelGames.bsky.social for @TabletopGaymers.bsky.social at Gen Con! It only got better between the playtests and the full release. It's witchy, it's adorable, and it's unapologetically queer: celebrating found family, self-discovery, and fighting the trolls. 🪄

Gen Con booked my Queer Worlds session in the same slot as Designing Equitable Games. Jesse, the other presenter, laughed it off and proposed we just...merge our seminars! The result was a wild (and surprisingly coherent) shared presentation on inclusion. I'll be telling this story for a long time!

It was amazing to watch @faireyes80.bsky.social and her co-presenter KILL IT at their Trade Day presentation...and even cooler to sit down and play a one-shot soley using assistive tech to communicate! (I also got a shout-out in their resources list 😎)

The SQEEEEE!!! RPG is debuting today in an actual-play stream from 1-4 EST! This is a tabletop role-playing game about the emotional world of living in community, where we can fight big emotions like anxiety and depression and learn how to help each other along the way. 👇

Getting to present!! I had such a generous, intelligent audience: fantastic questions, awesome feedback, and post-presentation conversation that lasted nearly an hour. It's seriously so cool that folks are interested in this (and getting to geek out after months of working on this material)

Meeting some fantastic self-publishers (including @koathedm.bsky.social and @stickydoodler.bsky.social), chatting about creativity and community, and getting to see A Construct's Nature from @ttrpgkids.com in person! It's truly a TOME (and it's surreal to see myself on the back)

Celebrating our Ten-Year Gay-Aversary with @tabletopgaymers.bsky.social and one very gay sheep. I'm not usually a party person, but this was a worthwhile exception.

Having a lovely conversation with the folks at the @ipr.bsky.social table. That interaction in particular was a distilled example of the kindness I've found in the TTRPG community, and it was a great encouragement.

Showing Tiny Dragon the Expo Hall after they totally slept through it last year. They were excited by all the pretty colors and nice people (many games of peek-a-boo with the folks at @thegeekpreacher.bsky.social), but the boffer swords and ceiling fans were the clear highlight.

Checking out the brand-new Education & Therapy track! It's so rare to find people in the same weird crossover of TTRPGs and youth work, and being in a room of them is really a joy. Shoutout to the panelists who ran the gauntlet, including @thebodhanagroup.bsky.social, @ttrpgkids.com, and YDS.

I'll be presenting at Origins Game Fair for the first time this year! Come join Friday @ 11am in Room A 216.

The perfect combo! I completely forgot to share this before, but IPR also has my game Highway Haunt (alongside a bunch of other incredible and weird one-page indie RPGs) in Tiny Tome 2.

(thanks to @alwaysnevers.bsky.social for the pic!)

Very important addendum featuring Tiny Dragons first character sheet - they were my assistant GM for the session, which mostly consisted of throwing crayons and scooting around the room gripping a wheely chair. (3.5/3.5)

In true TTRPG form, the Masks one-shot at WMU's LBGT Office became a two-shot. I've been wanting to run this system for so long, and it really delivered! (1/3.5)

Floored that Imagine Queer Worlds has hit its final stretch goal! The Deck of Queer Worlds guides the creative process with a tarot-style system of card drawing and placement. It's a great way to prompt thinking about gender, sex, and attraction in fictional characters and worlds.

I finally got to bring Teatime Adventures to the youth!! I mentioned it to a player last October, and they’ve wanted to play ever since. They created Virginia West, a Floradop with moth wings, black fur, and red eyes who made it her mission to befriend a golden retriever.

Despite the horrors, queer joy persists! I'll be running this group in person at WMU's LBGT office this semester. Queer folks and allies of any XP level are welcome; note that, while it'll be open to all, it's geared towards players aged 18-22. I have so many weird little games I want to run!

Got to run #TeatimeAdventures by Snowbright Studio for a table of 3 adults and 3 kids! The mechanics are a good fit for players who have basic knowledge of the d20 system through things like TikTok and memes but who might not want to mess with things like combat or complex spellcasting. 🧵

So many people at #GameholeCon picked up pronoun, gaymer, and ally ribbons from @tabletopgaymers.bsky.social. My favorite is watching parents explain to their kids why they wear them. Hoping to one day have those same conversations!

The library's assistant GM 3D printed these neat stands so the teens could draw their own minis! Some drew symbols, like a feather on a compass or a blunderbuss, and some drew characters, like the party parrot, the scarred monk, or the extremely homebrewed penguin summoner.

For example, here is a search for my one-page RPG, Highway Haunt! The unique combination and structure (I don't know that I would have had the same success with "Haunted Highways," for example) helps make your game easy to find.

I've been Elder Certified since 2019 when I heard a 15-year-old refer to Smash Bros Brawl as "the old Smash" and my soul astral projected to find a cloud to yell at.

I was inspired by the world of Alice Isn't Dead and the gameplay of Yahtzee (and similar dice games) to put this game together for the #1pRPGjam - I'm pretty proud of how it turned out! You can check it out at jaclynlewis.itch.io/highway-haunt
