To be clear I totally agree, I’m just bemoaning having to have the conversation again and again with people who think that Scotland intentionally has a vibes-based criminal verdict (or that it’s a good thing for a legal system to have!)

It’s very frustrating because in the original system, “not proven” was always intended as an acquittal, “not guilty” is the unorthodox third verdict, and it meant the opposite of what people think “not proven” means
