It's also at the forefront of my mind today - went for a dog walk and saw a local remembrance procession which included members of the local orange order lodge (In a small NE Scottish town)

It's definitely selective remembrance for the most part in the UK.

Having relatives who fought for & against the British army at roughly the same time (one died at the Somme & another was in the IRA during the war of independence), the poppy-mania has always made me uncomfortable.

My uni have recently announced 6 shiny new research centres. 2 of them are centred around AI, including the only one relevant to health.

Looks like I'm not part of a research centre.

Funnily enough one of the 'trends' identified in the 2022 report was that there was increased funding for translational research - just not at the methodology stage
