My entire life the GOP has been leveraging hate against marginalized people to distract & excuse policies that benefit their donors.
The real tragedy is how the Democrats just imitate them, instead of offering meaningful opposition.
The only movements Democrats effectively counteract are leftist.

The handlers and consultants are chosen by him, hired by him, and work for him. He’s the boss, he runs the campaigns, they are simply the hired help that gives him advice which he chooses to act on.

All true. And learning from the results of your actions requires introspection and understanding causation. The authoritative mindset and culture suppresses these and replace it with appeal to authority, tribalism, fear and hatred. It's irrational, by design.

It's a cop out, a lazy way to ignore acknowledging the actual problems. Similar to blaming "the algorithms" as if they weren't meticulously created by people and incentivized by profit.
