Having our vaccine model doesn’t really work if you don’t also have the healthcare and parental leave system that supports it...

As the article mentions, we don’t vaccinate against RSV, but you also won’t be bankrupted by medical bills if your child needs treatment.

We still use the word “Jul” for the holidays on the 24th-26th of December in Scandinavia.

For most of the population it’s a pretty secular excuse to get together with family and friends to exchange gifts and eat far too much 😅🎄

Would be funny, but a bit too sensitive atm. Greenland's status in the Realm is up for debate again, and honestly for the better.

Greenland *wants* to be independent, and they've gradually gotten more political sovereignty over the past ~20 years. All in all not a bad way to go about it!

Question from the editor - is the jail of your own mind sufficient, or should you seek incarceration?

A lot of it can be traced back to LaRouchean conspiracy theories (the Bill Gates theory in particular is directly from William Engdahl's desk, all the way back in 2010).

Keeping an eye on some of them can help you predict these insane narratives months in advance.

Here’s to hoping anti-sectarianism wins out. Being united against Assad and being united *for* Syria or whatever national entity/entities follows is going to be very different.

There's an incredibly corny joke somewhere in here about how "Da Mask is" falling off of Assad's regime.

Support coming through Iraq got bombed before they even reached Deir Ez Zor too.

The calls started going out yesterday for "reconciliated" opposition groups in southern Syria to rise back up.

Guess they listened.

Sartre had it right.

"They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past."

Feels like we’re edging towards one of those “weeks where decades happen”. Probably not soon, but it seems closer to inevitable.

*Many* people vote off of vibes as much as we hate to admit it, and post-Covid national elections (2023-2024) have delivered historic losses for incumbents all over the world, left and right wing. The economic "vibes" were bad.

See: Botswana, Japan, Austria, UK, France, South Africa etc.

Skeeting Through It from the Post Office. Valid sentence, horrible amount of context necessary to parse.

He thinks in whatever thought-terminating cliché will make for a good soundbyte, much like Trump. Moreover, he seems to have no grasp of law nor policy.

So - probably - he does think so, yes.

It's gonna depend highly on how much of the community's moved over, I figure.

But yeah, it feels like starting over in the good *and* bad sense.
