"The Appointments of Dennis Jennings" was released in theaters a few years after its Oscar win as part of the package film Two Mikes Don't Make a Wright--which combines it with Michael Moore's Roger & Me addendum "Pets or Meat" and...Mike Leigh's "A Sense of History"!!! A very 90s object

watched two shorts by Dean Parisot: the Oscar-winning Steven Wright vehicle The Appointments of Dennis Jennings and the Tom Noonan vehicle Tom Goes to the Bar. The latter was written by Michael Taav, who would eventually direct the obscure Lynchian comedy The Paint Job. Weird people. Good stuff!!

Convenient Parking 2: A Lot to Remember // Phil M Bernstein, 2025

"zits form and pop on the face of the rust belt"
"as members of the automotive laity, we're only meant to drive in order to park"
"it's a dubious business, making meaning for your life under the sign of the car."

great movie!!!

Wicked: For Good metascore hitting that sweet spot that almost guarantees I throw it a 10 in spite of glaring issues because I bawl my eyes out over the last 30 minutes. every movie is a box office bonanza

wish I had been made aware sooner of the Mark Waters Netflix comedy La Dolce Villa about an Ohioan who goes to Italy to, I dunno, learn things or something. Watching that in February when it dropped might have set this whole year off on a different note. Could have been a whole different man by now

this promotional art taken in a vacuum suggests the worst film ever made in the history of the art form. cannot speak to the film itself

only just learning that Peter Hujar (he of the increasingly acclaimed 2025 film Peter Hujar's Day) is the source of that A Little Life cover art. And that this photograph is called "Orgasmic Man." The More You Know!

much respect to the band Kurt Cobain taught little dweebs like me about by writing FUHGAWZ on his shoes (which you better believe I ripped off as a 12 year old with my own Chucks) but BLEACH would be my album of '89 if not for Disintegration and this isn't one of best Fugazi records
