There’s nothing better than driving down the California Incline at sunset.
Again, I'm thinking of this passage from @taffyakner.bsky.social's Fleishman Is In Trouble which made me sob the first time I read it years ago.

He's so slimy Professor Callahan from Legally Blonde.

Oh that's funny...I was driven to listen to "Ladies of the Canyon" on this rainy LA morning.

"Matter-of-act" is not an actual phrase, right @nytopinion.nytimes.com?

Has there been any discussion about the prospect of a Mamdani baby? I mean, look at this cutie.

Never let it be said that Trump and the GOP care about Americans being able to put food on the table. While binging on luxuries most people can't afford.

I guess that was his strategy when he needlessly demolished Bonwit Teller before its art deco friezes could be removed and moved to the Met. news.artnet.com/art-world/do...

Sure seems like his dream of shooting protestors in the legs is right around the corner. www.npr.org/2022/05/09/1...

OMG, Fred Trump *sold* the bricks people used to smash the stained glass windows. Like father, like son.

RIP Bonwit Teller art deco friezes.

Next up must be a White House golf course, right?
October 23, 2025 at 7:38 PM
Oh sweet Jesus, I just realized that next up on King Trump's to-do must be a White House golf course.

Seems like the plot of Mountainhead - which seemed a bit far-fetched just a few months ago - is totally possible. Not great.

The last 20 hostages are back home. And yet I can't help thinking about Hersh and all of the others who died in captivity. A bittersweet day.

La bella luna!

OMG, right? This scene...

I bet @awalkerinla.bsky.social and others will remember that Diane Keaton was deeply involved in the effort to save The Ambassador Hotel. She loved old LA as much as all of us and used her star power for good. May her memory be a blessing.

Jesus. It was a piece in the MMWR in 1981 that alerted doctors around the country to a strange pneumonia occurring in gay men in LA. The beginning of the AIDS epidemic. This is just awful.

The Family Stone is always a tearjerker, but it's going to be unbearable this year.
October 11, 2025 at 7:47 PM
Baby Boom, The Godfather, Annie Hall, The Family Stone, Looking for Mr. Goodbar. This is such a gut punch.

I hate this news. Diane Keaton brought an honesty and a lovely quirkiness to every role. A legend.

Have you seen the San Fernando Valley Brigade doing their thing above the 101? It's incredibly moving. lataco.com/freeway-over...

I'm getting tired of this phrase....
October 9, 2025 at 11:02 PM
This really feels like a canary in a coal mine moment. In other news, anxiously waiting for my kid's new passport to arrive.

Who's next? Maybe this awful person who, if memory serves, won a defamation lawsuit and got a ton of $.
