Monimiaceae is a family of flowering plants in the magnoliid order Laurales. This TEN is led by Elton John de Lírio, from the Instituto Nacional da Mata Atlântica.

TENS, or Taxonomic Expert Networks, help improve the WFO taxonomic backbone and curate a global consensus classification. TENs also provide a platform for world’s experts to share knowledge on world’s plants. At our most recent meeting, we added seven TENS, bringing our total up to 65!

WFO’s own Thomas Borsch and his colleagues pointed to the importance of expert consensus, like the TENs provide, in a recent study published in Nature examining unknown biodiversity in Germany.
