#OnThisDayInHistory, John Peter Zenger publishes the first issue of the "New York Weekly Journal" to air grievances with the Royal governor, in 1733. The governor didn't think this was funny, and Zenger was charged with libel. This eventually led to one of the first victories for the free press.
