The last two games I played were Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Sonic Mania, so we’re talking about some kind of sidescroller starring Mr. Video Game and the Blue Blur, specifically inspired by those games, yeah?

Trying to get into the heads of the people who develop games is usually simple. Most of the time, game design has sense to it if you take the time to reverse-engineer the creative process.

This is not one of those cases. This has to be an afterthought in design, a placeholder left dangling.
