The difference in views is so fundamental. It's basic to humans. Who will look after us? Who should we throw our lot in with?
Universal values a la the West. Or our clan, protectors since whenever and everywhere else.

Trump is tapping into this convention.

Quakers no longer represent religious heterodoxy. They are a post-Christian anti-consumerist tendency. Continuity is in the name only.
