Writer, editor, and freelancer. Instructor at Sword Play Fencing in Minnesota (swordplayfencing.org). Strong opinions about writing, fantasy/sci fi, swordsmanship, and beer. Pretty mellow about everything else.
I love it when autocorrect signs everything "Stan" instead of Sean. That's the best.

I am a fencing coach in a movie. I only teach rich adults and am impeccably coifed despite being engaged in physical activity all day. I own a huge, perfectly clean, woodpaneled studio. I will grudgingly host actual duels with sharps, and am somehow appalled when someone gets genuinely stabbed.

Congratulations, that's really amazing. You should be proud of yourself. Also, I hate you a bunch. But good job.

George Lucas as a great idea guy who could put together a talented team, which collaboratively made amazing stuff: absolutely a legend, deserves no end of respect.
George Lucas as an auteur who had a singular vision that should not be gainsaid because "it all rhymes": needs a swift kick to the ego.

This one is pretty niche, but razor sharp swords, except in a very few specific cases, are actually a really bad idea. How sharp swords should be was hotly debated throughout history. Apparently, one legendary Abbasid master advised menstruating women should not even look at a sharp sword.
