Mmm no mention of timber production in this unprofitable marginal agricultural land.. UK and England in particular is a huge importor of wood fibre.

Mmm let's think about this.. @woodlandtrust and LINK have a huge PR budget (part of their business plan) and when it suits them the WT sit in the forestry sector... cuckoo, cuckoo. Other land uses dominate by virtue of scale... what do you expect?

To be Devil's Advocate if Craig Bennet was to try and cover the area in intensive forestry (in line with regulations and the UK Forestry Standard what % of the sale area would be covered in intensive conifer plantation?

It is really an impact over time... Long Established Woodlands of Plantation Origin (know in Scotland as LEPO) feature on the Ancient Woodland Inventory... The plantations (often with maincrop non native species) take on characteristics of older woodland, species turn up and develop networks.
