An extremely idle morning being had here. Half term has begun: the alarms are turned off. Various things beckon. But for now, this.

with an introduction by EW herself — who else is a “ghost-feeler”?

So this one is the Venetian #landscapeoffears expansion pack.

It also made me wonder — if a pair of gents telling each other ghost stories by a college fireside after a bottle of claret is a trope, where do the women tell their ghost stories?

I was in Dublin at the weekend and we were taken by our local friend to Forty Foot, in the moonlight. Dreamy light on the waves 🌝

I’ve seen a couple of good stiles already this year, inviting adventure or attention, and this one is my current favourite: on the sunlit side of Toadsmoor valley, looking across to frosty fields. Shortly afterwards was the warmth and ale of the Ship at Brimscombe. #Stroud @lakesstiles.bsky.social

The little one to the right of a cafe/deli? Opposite was an excellent metal door in a wall.

A very beautiful place for a stroll.

My chuckle at that scared the cat off my lap. And I think you are right.

After-hours stiling!

Here’s a chunky bridge-step-squeeze, am always grateful for the path volunteers who put these in.

We had a lovely time at the circus last night: people doing frankly incredible stuff, plus ponies pirouetting and the magic of big top, a live band and Tweedy the clown.

I’ve been reading this since July, eking — and also eeking — it out. The only one I’ve not loved so far was Walter de La Mare’s All Hallows. MR James’s The Ash-Tree has successfully put “trees too near windows” into my nightmare list.
Top stuff, @slipperyjack.bsky.social !
