@mariapopova.bsky.social thank for sharing your many gifts with us!! My wife and I were with you and your inspiring friends in Austin for the eclipse… it is a treasured memory for us!

May you be surrounded in peace, love, and gratitude everywhere you go.

Schumacher's "serving the slave" phrase reminds me of CS Lewis (Abolition of Man).
Both thinkers target the same insidious error—the instrumentalization of humanity (economic/philosophical)—that diminishes personhood…
for, each power gained is proportional to the agency we surrender over ourselves

maria: feeling grateful for your many inspiring and grounding posts you share here (and the universe in verse events you host!). thought i’d share a quick post of mine about tree fungus you might enjoy.

i just today learned that the reason the enormously large insects of prehistory vanished was because the super high levels of atmospheric oxygen suddenly declined because fungus developed a new ability/enzyme to breakdown tree lignins that released previously stored carbon into the atmosphere.

The lab results are compelling for killing certain dangerous bacteria (like P. aeruginosa, E. coli, MRSA) under controlled conditions. But that is not the same as demonstrating safe, effective, selective killing inside a living body (human/animal), & preservation of beneficial bacteria (microbiome).

you’ve gotten a lot of feedback but i would add this: you vote with your dollar almost every minute of the day. stop giving money (or attention) to the companies that are suppressing you. yes, cutting these cords is painful, but worth it to have a life outside of the matrix. good luck.

everywhere, even in urban places that have infinite distractions, but the glordinary of heaven on earth is still there. once you practice focusing on the small beauty (weeds growing in pavement cracks) you begin to see it everywhere. granted, i prefer being surrounded by nature than walls and lights

another superb post, although i would like to expand on this passage: “Inside the system, these opportunities for raw aliveness are not easily found — they must be sought, seized, and then surrendered to.”
Although it may be challenging to ‘see’ the opportunities they are in fact surrounding us

great pic!! 🤣
your hand position caught my eye though, either that canoe is much lighter than the canoes i have carried, or you are carrying it with your head… or, maybe your arms are super strong from all your paddling this summer!

much because the disunity in your southern border will quickly spread to you all. just thought i’d share the thought as i greatly respect the work you have been doing to elevate issues that i wouldn’t have otherwise been aware of… keep up the good work!

that isn’t Carney’s primary concern… given the current admin, the fate of this pipeline is not high on the list of urgent concerns. I am very pro-nature, but this seems like a great piece of political work by canada… if this is even close to correct, then canada might not want to disparage carney
October 8, 2025 at 10:29 PM
@charlieangus104.bsky.social This may be way off the mark, but this strikes me as a smart move by Carney because he gets progress on US tariffs and partially defuses the growing Alberta-BC rift while shifting the burden on making it hair to the US… which sucks for the US environmental concerns but

that and all the stoopid rule changes and i walked away as a fan several years ago and havent missed it one bit. plenty of other wonderful things to do on this planet than deal with a poorly run entity. good luck!

very cool! thx for sharing.
i especially like how the sea uses the fallen patriarch to create something that is her own creation… re-creation as a gift to the world…

the art of regifting is the way we move through the day ✌️

Hey you two might enjoy this series of posts about trees and how tree fungus changed the world so that vertebrates could replace gigantic insects. ✌️

I love them. they are the tallest/oldest beings we know. they inhabit an almost timeless realm where even death lasts longer than most other lives.

in a world focused on the fastest, these ancient sentinels build their sandcastles in the sky. always giving.
even as they disappear…
