Made by Jackie Hagan RIP Zines are photocopied booklets you can make with scissors and glue. A world away ordinary judgment, punk and geeky and powerful. They are allowed to be wonky. Zine readership are accepting. People before we learnt to be quiet about our heart’s biggest dreams and fears. Collage your rage, draw your brain, list your loves, draw a map of your hometown, tell us recipes (and how they smell) Reuse is part of zine culture but get permission or use copyright free material. Can be fact or fiction (or even both) Zines often have very niche topics or are material which is personal or autobiographical.

A page of a hand made zine, text reads Our kids and their grown ups workshops are for ages 0-17 The workshops are split into three age groups, 0-5, 6-11, 12-17 All kids must be accompanied by an adult throughout, so if you are bringing kids in different age groups you need more than one adult. Eg if you have an 8 year old and a 4 year old you need two adults. If you have a 12 year old and a 15 year old you need one adult. If it’s borderline, eg a 5 year old and a 6 year old and one adult then you can have both in the younger group at their grown ups discretion.

It is the most recent ordnance survey map that is out of copyright. It is mostly accurate. Good luck. There is no expectation or pressure for anyone to discuss their own experiences or make art about them. However, some participants may wish to do so and are of course welcome to. Both this and more general exploration of the themes through art and discussion may be highly triggering. If you want to bring drawings, poetry, writing etc relating to the theme we encourage you to, as long as it’s your own art or copyright free and fits on an a5 portrait page.

I’m making a zine about bookshops. I buy a book in every shop. Today I got this and sat in their café making pages.

An old lady next to me chatted to me about Hay, bookshops and art, she’s an artist too. Mid chat she leafed through the book and kept talking.

My office for the next few days. Working on a zine about the booksellers of Hay-on-Wye. Hay (the world’s first booktown) has a bibliocentric economy, a population of 1600, and about 20 bookshops.

Boskalis Magnor, the world’s largest backhoe dredger. The bucket has a volume of 37m^3 and can lift 67 tons of material.

She is part of an offshore construction fleet which is currently docked at the Port of Leith in Edinburgh.
