Dropping heavy machinery is usually a breach of the manufacturer’s warranty. I recommend using a proper crane to lift and place them next time.

Is Roy Keane heading-up the compensation team? Seems a bit harsh.

I - a Glasgow born British citizen educated in Fife and Aberdeen - do not have an "A-Level standard" qualification in English.

Off to put my feet up.

Pitch invasions and pyro are obviously safety issues to be taken seriously at football.

But Thistle, Aberdeen and Celtic fans will, I suspect, all be a little bit proud that the SPFL labelled their Clubs “no’ a grass”.

What Interflora promised as a Mother's Day planter v what Interflora delivered.

Oh but don't worry, they've offered a 25% partial refund.

Not even a hint of "we'll send another planter that doesn't look like a compost heap".

Pretty dreadful customer service, to be honest.

Effective payroll taxes for all but the highest paid have gone down in the UK in last 30 years unless you’re earning treble or more the average income.

Yet for many it feels like that take-home pay doesn’t stretch as far.

It really is a mystery why that is… can’t think why at all. No idea.

… I agree with Antonin Scalia in Citizens’ United!

The First Amendment protects the freedom of speech of all legal persons in the US, not just US citizens!

“Its text offers no foothold for excluding any category of speaker, from single individuals to partnerships of individuals… [et cetera]”

The Scottish Gov's memorandum is more direct on this point. They understand UKG not to believe consent is needed, and think the provisions in question do in fact require consent.

The sequencing of these two documents often makes it hard for outsiders to say for sure what the disagreement is (3/3).

What I've never seen before is what's in the Public Authorities (Fraud, Error and Recovery) Bill's explanatory notes.

The UK Government has left open the view on whether provisions engage Sewel, even after introducing the bill.

Normally you'd expect a firm view before introducing a bill.

Update: said ticket inspector has now claimed it is part of the conditions of carriage that pet carriers cannot be on tables and that the BTP will remove me from the train if I do not comply.

Spoiler: it isn't part of the conditions of carriage. They only state that pets cannot go on the seats.

Your Tuesday morning reminder that Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is not a means tested or work-related benefit.

It exists to help people deal with the additional challenges on daily living and mobility posed by illness and/or disability.

Lots of people in work receive it.

I see that some in the legal commenterati are suggesting that the new Attorney General's Guidance on Legal Risk is a contributory factor to the government's choices around the Chagos Islands deal.

Here is what the guidance actually says about legal advice and international law.
