Rain and mud gave way to sun. Thousands of migrating Sandhill cranes and a public land pronghorn buck to cap it off. #publicland #hunting #wildlife

Over the last couple of weeks, we built 78 log jams and beaver dam analogs in the headwaters of Camp Creek, a tributary to the Gallatin River. This project will improve water quality as well as fish and wildlife habitat along 1.6 miles of stream.

It’s tempting to think of the floods that ravaged Texas last month as an isolated disaster, removed from the reality of most Americans. But mounting evidence shows no US state is safe from catastrophe, especially as we keep building in flood-prone areas.

There have only been 2 catchers in MLB history who have hit 33+ HRs, 70+ RBI, and stole 9+ bases in a season:

Carlton Fisk, 1985
Ivan Rodriguez, 1999

I am proud of this project. We built over 80 beaver dam analogs and log jams this season to improve water quality in one of the most degraded streams in Gallatin County, MT. Next year, it's on to native plantings. The project will improve habitat for fish and wildlife in the heart of Bozeman.

The 2024 big game season is in the books. Incredibly thankful for the intact landscapes that these critters call home, time spent with friends, and the meals that will come from successful hunts.
