I’ve been working on my early Jack Londons. It’s a treasure hunt every time I’m at a used bookstore.

Current inventory of our Little Free Library. I built this 15? years ago for Mother’s day. The library’s getting a lot of use these days. 📚 #library #littlefreelibrary #books #reading

Harvesting perfectly ripe Himrod grapes. The vines are a little over 20 years old and produce prolifically. These are the best grapes I’ve ever tasted. We know fall is here when they’re ripe.

Our small garden has gifted us pounds of Chile de Arbol this season. They’re hotter than I like to eat fresh. Maybe ferment and make hot sauce?

So this big bastard rolled down the hill at the quarry. The dozer weighs around 75 tons. We figure the brute weighs around 30T. I’d love to find a buyer for this beautiful boulder but it’s sadly too big to load. #quarry #rhyolite #boulder

Chili peppers are ripening! 🌶️ Have two types this year; Chili Arbol and supposedly Scotch Bonnet (i think they’re really Jamaican Mushroom Peppers). #chili #peppers #garden #summertime

This is a cool post. Here’s a little one I did a while back. They’re kinda difficult to put together.

Here’s a cross-section of modern Roman concrete created in my lab. This material has NO Portland cement but is comprised of lime, pozzolan, and aggregates. Despite the hype, real RC is relatively weak (1400 psi) but is highly strain tolerant and is self-healing so very survivable. #roman #concrete

We had a chance to visit the Merwin Conservancy in Haiku Maui today. Beyond his prolific writings, Merwin left an inspiring legacy of restoration and healing of ravaged lands. #WSMerwin #poetry #maui

This filibuster speech is phenomenal. I’ve been really down on Dems as an opposition party. @corybooker.com breathing fire is starting to meet the moment.

For St. Patrick’s Day I present an outcrop of Irish Carboniferous limestone from the Burren in County Clare. Can any bird folk help identify my avian companion?

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

My 30th book from the Le Monde list. I finished this a couple days ago and am still contemplating what I've read. The cyclical nature of time and related ebb and flow of family/societal fortune seem particularly germane to today's current events. #booksky #books #reading #classicbooks
