I am not confused. I am deeply committed to a range of mutually exclusive positions on many topics. All my opinions are meh. Consternated in the extreme. Words putting into sentences making guy.
All time favourites are Doris Kearns Godwin’s Team of Rivals and Jill Lapore’s These truths but this year I’ve really enjoyed Dan Jones’ Crusaders and his Henry V, Battle Cry of Freedom by James McPherson, and am currently travelling cross country with this utterly enthralling masterwork

1868 Civil War loser and lost cause revisionist Stephens should’ve had a chat with 1861 secessionist Stephens. That guy was pretty clear on the ‘immediate cause’ for the then ‘rupture and present revolution’.

My favourite was this V6 Holden Commodore. Got it with 6km (3.7miles) on the clock and 8 years later sold it with 387,000+kms (240,000+ miles) on the dial. Always got me there and back. Great fun to drive, and absolutely ate corners on those high mountain roads. We still miss our favourites.

Absolute gibberish. The States run federal elections. The President has no role in them.

This Trump vs Musk break up is utterly ridiculous but it’s also the world we now live in. This is the front ‘page’ of the New York Times app

Sitting next to the lovely @mirandamaybe.bsky.social as we watch #AusVotes2025 on ABC and every time a bad result for the LNP she breaks out in the Pixie Ann Wheatleys. #BinNight

In Australia we’ve had a classic of the genre on the books for a while. An Australian MP caught praising himself on Facebook. “Well done Angus” is now part of the the lexicon.

The trump admin needs an up-to-the-minute ‘the tariffs are on/off’ messaging app. Perhaps a Signal chat with a status update will do for now?

To tariff or not to tariff

Has any been able to get that well known economic expert Ron Vara on camera to discuss his thoughts on tariffs?

The final piece of the Trump and GOP plan to deter the Courts from their Constitutional function is out in the open.
1. Stir up their supporters against judges
2. Threaten to impeach individual judges
3. Threaten to disestablish or defund key elements of a supposed coequal branch

Waiter: “Would you like to see the dessert menu?”
Me: “No, thank you.”
*Severe thunderstorm with wind and sideways rain suddenly lands on top of the restaurant*
Me: “Actually, could we please have a look at that menu?” Live radar image attached.
