Interesting, I associate Raclette more with New Year's Eve but sitting around and melting cheese on stuff is always a good option!

I'm from Germany, we make a potato salad with gherkins alongside wiener sausages for Christmas eve and a more fancy dinner on the 25th consisting of venison ragout, potato dumplings and red cabbage.
Tradition as long as I remember and very common over here.
