So much wrong with this man, but some days his appalling bad taste just kinda overwhelms me with hate.

I wonder if the lampshade might soon find herself replaced by the widow??

It actually looks like he's been varnished.

The Mango Moron doesn't realise that classics like Star Wars were made outside of the US.

Book 8 of 2025
My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante

Absolutely terrific. Slow, thorough, epic story telling.
Characters you worry about when you're not reading it!

Can't wait to read the other books in the series.

Other things he's said today...the man's an idiot

Book 7 of 2025
Parable of the Sower by Octavia E Butler (Audiobook)

WOW ! A book written in 1993 which feels like it predicted the future albeit that we're not quite there yet.
It starts in 2024 in an America ravaged by climate change and the resulting societal breakdown.
Amazing. Please read.

Book No 6 of 2025

The Radleys by Matt Haig

Meh..
Found myself hoping it would end ASAP as I read it.

Strange because I loved Humans and Midnight Library by the same author.

I just don't see the appeal of this story. I didn't like any of the characters and felt no sympathy for anyone!

Every year, around the time of Roger's birthday, we visit the memorial in Nice where he, his parents and many, many others are remembered. #neverforget

Post a pic of when your pet was little: here's Womble. This photo was taken not long after she was found dumped in a rubbish bin in Bulgaria just after Christmas 2017. It was -15°!
Since February 2018 she's been enjoying a new life on the côté d'azur. ❤️🐶

Book No 5 of 2025

Young Jane Young by Gabrielle Zevin

A quirky book with strong female characters. It really drew me in. I loved her later novel, Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow and this one did not disappoint. Funny, serious, great story telling.

Book No 3 of 2025

Scattershot by Bernie Taupin
Very interesting read. I loved his story about John Lennon & Brian Wilson.
I found that I went back & forth between liking & then disliking Bernie Taupin! Don't know where I ended up, but I'd recommend this book (esp to those of a certain age!)

Book No 4 of 2025

The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell

Inspired by a poem, which was inspired by a portrait of Lucrezia, Duchess of Ferrara: the tale of her marriage & her death at 16.

It's wonderful, I enjoyed it immensely. A work of fiction, pulling actual events into it's storyline.
