Aspiring sports commentator, broadcaster and concert MC from Brisbane, Australia.
My favourites are Daniel Vettori and Murray Bennett... because left-arm spin.

But I went down the rabbit hole and found others like Devon Malcolm, Dilip Doshi, Narendra Hirwani, Eddie Barlow, Chris Rogers, Nicole Bolton, Bill Bowes and Todd Murphy. Good fun.

Ah, yes - Homeward Bound by S&G, although the lyric that best reflects my cricket career is probably:

"I'll play the game and pretend
But all my words come back to me
In shades of mediocrity"

Mark Butler on 7.30 last night did mention shonky providers and the need for better regulation of service providers.

...and this one is about Northern Territory inclusion footballer Brandon Redpath.

Both Ben and Brandon were terrific. I feel very blessed to have interviewed and then written about them.

Brandon Redpath's time representing the NT Thunder's inclusion team at the Toyota AFL Open is among the highlights of his life

"A season five Simpsons episode randomly being re-run."
😄 Very nice touch, @deanbilton.bsky.social.

I read this the opposite way. For me, by saying "50 ordinary men" rather than solely "50 men", I find it harder to recategorise them as monsters or 'not like me'.

Definitely not pushing my interpretation over yours. Just thinking this through, discussing in good faith and trying to learn.

I was going with 'brat' so if you ever need a G-rated version, you can have it.

I know it's inevitable, but I always feel a little sad when someone falls off that list. From memory, we lost two or three this year.

To be fair, I think a lot of cricket fans like us know to use a player's averages as a starting point, not an end point. The objective measuring tool for cricketers doesn't exist, which is good because it means we can have endless conversations, preferably with fruit cake and tea.

I didn't realise at first that you were talking about a TV marathon. My initial thought was, "what, is a Grand Final sprint not long enough for you?"

Abdul Qadir. I enjoyed playing cricket in the backyard from age 2, but when I was 6, I saw Qadir bowling on telly and just loved his action. I went outside, tried it (left-handed), and turned the ball a foot. Dad was so proud.
