Spotted this unattended paper wasp nest in a succulent next to the driveway. Took the opportunity to knock it off then noticed there’s still pupae in the cells. Phone camera time! Such a delicate strong little structure, perfect sheer pulp cell walls. #waspnest #hexagons #nature #australiangarden

An inquisitive Australian Crow perched on the side mirror of my car. Gum trees stand tall in the background. An echidna in the long grass beside the path, snuffling around for ants. Tiny jumping spider on my hand. Absolutely adorable, curious & enjoyed exploring my arm, jumping back & forth between my hand & the table. A lunch break blessing.

Couple of pics from our last brief visit where I rolled my ankle on black beach, took a tumble & cut my head on a rock that day in one fluid motion 🤣 graceful as ever 😁

I love droplets! Each unique and holding a little magic.
A perfect droplet remains on a green dandelion leaf the morning after the rain. One large droplet surrounded by several smaller ones sits upon purple-red dandelion leaves the morning after a rainy night. A large crystal-like droplet sits on green & purple dandelion leaves. The light hitting the water casts a weblike shattered vibe across the droplet, possibly refracting the small web at the left edge of the droplet.

The final piece of the thread which left me feeling truly blessed & the stress of the day but a faint blip on the radar. I felt calm and balanced as I wandered over to the car & headed home. Thanks for visiting the National Park with me 😊 7/7
View of the moon through the eucalypt canopy at dusk. A final look at the golden sunset through the eucalypts in the clearing. Adorable young eastern grey kangaroo looking up at me as it forages about. I was about 3.5-4m away from this sweet roo, another beautiful interaction that filled me with joy. She(?) was having a good feed near the tree and didn’t seem to mind me at all. I watched her quietly for about 5minutes, filmed her for just under 2 minutes as my teens love our animals & a dear friend at work will love to watch how sweet she was. I said a quiet farewell & thanks & took my leave.

I may be going barking mad but I love the textures and colours of tree skin 😉 this is one tree and there were many colours, textures, sap and stories of fire on this tree alone. 6/7
A burnt remnant on bark still clings to the tree, a reminder of our bushfire prone island-continent that we call home. This patch of bark looks shredded and torn. The bark is darker here and it looks like the very dark, almost black lumps, are dried sap that has oozed & congealed. More shredded looking bark that looks like it’s lifting & peeling away showing more of the bubbling black sap beneath. To the right you can see lighter bark colouration showing. Looking up the trunk on a dark patch of very rough bark. Above the dark bark, the bark of the upper tree trunk & limbs look smooth & is soft grey gum tones.

Sunset silhouettes and a spiny wattle. 5/7
There is always a tree that catches my attention. The graceful tall lady front and centre across the clearing held the eye today and radiated a peaceful watchfulness over the area. Trees silhouetted against the pink & golden clouds at sunset. This spiked acacia paradoxa will hurt like a mofo if it stabs you. The long spikes average 1cm long & young leaves are hairy.

Looking back up the track at the sun kissed trees & the power lines of which nature is indifferent to. I am calling this black faced swamp wallaby Dipstick! Standing beside the track surrounded by sedge grasses and boronias, its tail is long with a white tip, its face alert, watchful & curious. I hope to spot Dipstick again on future visits. What better way to shake off a stressful chaotic day at work than reconnecting with nature… 2/7
The path ahead leads to sunset lit eucalypts & wattles. Sedge grass tussocks line the trackway & boronias pop up in amongst them all. Sweet eastern grey kangaroo in tussocks of sedge is looking at me from across the creek. We happily stood observing each other and sharing the moment in harmony. One of the many little boronias that play a part in this scrubby bushland. Tiny pink & white flowers add a blush to the winter landscape. The same black faced swamp wallaby that watched me earlier watched me as I looped around to the next track. Very calm & very cute!

Eastern Grey Kangaroo bathed in dusk sunlight in the scrub Dead tree still stands tall catching the end of day sunlight on its branches. Looking back at the eucalypt lined track I had walked along. Adorable black-faced swamp wallaby made eye-contact across the scrub.
