City councils in the US are tiny compared to some other countries. My aunt in Europe sits on a city council of 19 in a city of 10,000 residents. Larger cities have 40-50 members. Proportional representation resulting in 5-6 parties. There are no "one party" towns like in the backward US.

Thank you. I frequent the 38 bus that passes through GFS, it would be a missed opportunity to keep the D Line out. People boarding and exiting at GFS adding more people daily there benefiting businesses and increasing walkability.

There is never any discussion about truly reforming the system to reflect the modern age.

SRO's were common in the old TV shows from the 50's to the 70's. Like all the time. Joe Friday talking to a retired widow at an SRO..."just the facts, ma'am".

Exactly. I have an aunt that is a Green party member and is on her city council and vice-mayor, while the mayor is a conservative. Working coalition of CDU-Greens in small 10K pop city. No party ever gets a majority. No one party states or cities. Diverse voices represented,

Yes. In Germany they utilize proportional representation on top of the single member district. Voters have two votes on the ballot: one for their district, the second is the "party preference" vote. The "party" vote tally is used to make up parliament. Greens get 10% of vote, they get 10% of seats.

Agreeing on some but not other things is just life in general. Stuff can get done. The colorful former NYC mayor Ed Koch used to say "if you agree with me on 9 out of 12 things, vote for me. If it's 12 out of 12, get a psychiatrist."

I like Jazz a lot and I ranked him. I watched the majority of his daily 2 minute campaign videos and very impressed with the guy. He's got a future IMO.

18th century idea to improve our city. Change the law so that if you win the most wards then you become mayor!

One really can make a very patriotic and flag waving argument that the ACA (or something better) is in the interest of the small businesses, free enterprise, and the family. Freedom to chose your path and the American dream.

We really need the free market folks and the entrepreneurs in the GOP to make the case for ACA or MFA so that all persons who wish to pursue economic freedom and start a business can do so!

I rode it all the way to Union Depot Station from Uptown this morning to attend the TC Book Fair, also at Union Depot. No need to find and pay for parking! Very convenient.

Fewer stops, dedicated lanes, and quicker boarding make it slower?

Hearse driving on the Hennepin/Lyndale bike lane near Loring Park yesterday, next to the Methodist Church.

I saw a car at a dangerous speed heading west on 32nd St near Hennepin chased by an unmarked police car.

The little Italian courtyard is magical. Always see young couples on dates there. Guessing a nice cozy restaurant would suffice.
