Yes it's political, but not "politically conformist", meaning it did not go along with the prevailing narrative. MGS3 was developed in the post-9/11 patriotic environment and was deeply anti-patriotic and anti-war.

I want to propose that the term "woke" is an dumb/offensive way of trying to say that a company is proudly out of touch with popular demand, plus trying to be progressive.
In that sense, outdated gameplay, bad marketing, etc. is all "woke" and not just a failure. "Woke" kinda just means delusional.

"Woke" is a terrible term for specific criticism, it's deliberately vague and provocative. But the writing, casting, directing, marketing, and general misundestanding of the intellectual property are all theoretically evidence of "woke" (that is, being proudly out of touch with popular demand)

That's production budget. You're not factoring marketing costs:

Wow I know nothing about this game, but that is atrocious writing. Whoever is designing questlines there needs to be fired. "You're allowed to feel things" is straight out of Reddit.

MGS3 has long been hailed as a perfect example of how to have strong female characters without being politically conformist (ie. woke). The only outrage will be if they deviate significantly from the original.

Why did Concord fail if not for its character designs and marketing? And what was wrong with its designs and marketing other than an attempt to conform to the current woke standards (ie. being unserious and unattractive)
