How many pairs of these checkered Vans have I owned since my first pair back in 1969? A lot. My current pair was looking beat up so I went to the Vans store in Waikiki. I bought a pair of the Vans Skate Slip-ons. Slip-on Vans with ARCH SUPPORT? Yes, please! It's like they evolved for 65 y/o me.

I'm grateful for everything I've learned about working with horses over the past 3 years. I believe nothing else can teach you to communicate as effectively and honestly. Horses are innate BS detectors. If you want to lead a horse, you have to BE a leader. It's that simple and that complicated.

I will miss O'ahu. The museums, Honolulu, Chinatown, the Symphony. Brunch. Our favorite beach. We'll only be an hour away by 737. Gotta fire up those flyer miles.

I saw a couple of foals born while I lived here. Makana and Hokulani arrived just a few days apart. They are half siblings, both sired by Navar. Sara and Belleza were quite proud of their babies. ❤️🐴

This guy. This is the horse I will miss the most. The pose is typical. He is a stallion with a big personality. He wants you to think he's a badass, but it's all an act. I was probably talking baby talk to him here. He doesn't want you to know how much he loves hugs. Don't tell anybody. 😂 ❤️🐴

My new favorite cheese is this Manchego cheese from Spain. It has a distinctive herringbone rind and is made from the milk of Manchego sheep. 'Ele'Ele approves. Well, probably not, but the cheese is excellent.

Today will be my last day taking care of the horses and other animals at the farm, and I am heartbroken. Moving on to better things on the Island of Hawai'i, but it is bittersweet. I certainly will miss these critters. I saw this girl get born. She's nibbling on my beard to cheer me up ❤️

Muddle orange, cherry, sugar and bitters in old fashioned glass. Add brandy and bourbon. Add ice. Top with Sprite.
