Like Regigigas, it takes a while before it gets going--shame that's like, the entire first half. But I think it has a pretty good payoff, and I'd say it ends up fitting right in the middle for Mario & Luigi games. It's a step in the right direction, if nothing else.

The first mainline Pokémon game I would play. Between this, Stadium & the anime, my introduction to the franchise was quite an experience. This game may have plenty of coding quirks, but it's still fun to come back to now and then. Can't go wrong with simplicity sometimes.

I only played Pikmin 1 until last year, when I finally got to play the others. 4 however, is by & away my favorite. The new mechanics are fresh, there's lots to explore, & you've got Oatchi. What more do you need? Lots of people waited for this one, and I'd say their patience was rewarded.

The first Atlus RPG I would ever tackle, and hoo boy, was it a good one to start with. It's amazing how much this game roped me in after the first dungeon. I enjoyed all the twists and turns the story brought, and the character cast is great. Long time investment, but well worth it.

My favorite game on the SNES. Yeah, DKC2 stepped it up, but the first game will always be near and dear to me. It's also fun to blast through it with a 101% run from time to time. Had to mention this game on its 30th Anniversary.
Good lord, where has the time gone.

I call this "Rhythm Link to the Past", and it's funny considering when I first beat this I hadn't beaten ALttP yet (I have now as of this year). This was a super fun game, and it's full of remix bops also. You will be kept on your toes with this one, perhaps even literally.

Like many, this was my first exposure to Tetris. As a kid, I never really got the appeal, but I had a bit of fun. Nowadays, I appreciate it a lot more and still come back to this every now and then for what truly is a solid classic.

This was a nifty way to see how Tetris has progressed over the past forty years, especially when you can play emulated versions of some of its oldest incarnations.
It also makes me feel quite old.

I had to bring up my all time favorite indie eventually. Gameplay is great, Lena Raine does a stellar job with the OST, and the messages this game has are powerful. It's a tough game, but it encourages you instead of belittling you. All of these just make for a marvelous experience.

TCG Pocket's been reminding me of playing through this game, and wanting to play its sequel. This was a cool way to experience the Pokémon TCG, and it's got a lot of charm that the modern apps don't really have. I'd love to play another game like this again.

Well, Sonic Superstars was a bust to me, but at least we still have Mania, which I consider peak 2D Sonic. I know there's a lot of nostalgia to this game but the original zones also really nail it down. Hopefully next 2D entry they'll try to take some lessons from this game.

The first FF game I've finished. Played the SNES version, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Won't lie, maybe it's due to first game bias but I feel like this is my favorite FF (barring FF7 Remake duo) between this, 7, & 8. I was just pretty excited with what 4 brought to the table.

While certainly a more primitive DragonBall fighting game compared to games like FighterZ, I still respect this game a lot. They did very well translating Z scenes into the story mode of the game, and that definitely gives it points for me. Overshadowed, but still a fun time.

This game's a beautiful take on Tetris. Playing through all the backgrounds it has really takes you on quite a trip, but it's a cool ride the whole way. The Connected expansion was cool also, adding in some additional modes and multiplayer. Definitely a Tetris worth checking out.

My first foray into the Mario Party series, and I've got plenty of fond memories with this one. The boards are pretty fun, Duel Mode can be entertaining at times, and there's a pretty great selection of minigames. To me, this is the best N64 entry for what it brings to the table.

The 2nd mainline FE I've beaten, this one was mostly fun to go through. Artstyle is gorgeous, has a pretty strong roster, and story isn't too shabby. Now if only the maps weren't one-to-one from Gaiden. It has its problems but it's still a solid FE game.

Long before Celeste would drop & become my new favorite indie, this was my top indie to play through. Around the mid '10s, I played through this game several times, & it's just fun to go through. To think this great game was all made by one person. Kudos to you, Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya.

After seeing Alan stream the first Grandia, the series piqued my curiosity a bit. The 2nd game dropped on Steam & I thought "Let's check it out". What a game it was, with a great story and a memorable cast. It may have fallen in ranks now but it's still a fantastic RPG to me.

Start another one 'cause I'm wacky like that, but I've been seeing this go around and I might as well give it a go

Now my vote for best game of 2024. Also wild with its release timing. Wish we'd only follow the lessons and examples it provides more...

Sonic Generations still as good as ever (final boss aside), and Shadow Generations nailed its half of the package pretty well.
