September 25, 202425.5 miles Hamline-Midway, Como, Payne-Phalen The appearance of an enormous metal loon sculpture in the Midway generated a great deal of media coverage so I cruised over to see what the buzz was about. Reportedly the world’s largest loon at 12 feet tall with an 88 foot wingspan, it certainly is impossible to miss, even with all the action at the busy intersection of University and Snelling Avenues.

Classic American Cars and a Bookstore On Wheels
July 16, 2024 12.6 miles Macalester-Groveland, Merriam Park, Lexington-Hamline, Summit-University (Rondo) Macalester-Groveland One of the most entertaining things about biking around Saint Paul is finding the unheralded or out of the ordinary. A home and fences decorated with hundreds of metal art signs, a yard covered completely with artificial turf, and on this trip, distinctive, decades-old vehicles. Friction between cars, no matter the age, and bikes, or more accurately, riders and drivers, occurs far too often.
