I won’t speak for Bill W. or AA but I consider a dry-drunk to be someone who doesn’t commit to any form of recovery and maintains the negative behaviors that were associated with their drinking. Here’s what AA says about seeking recovery outside of AA.

Such a moving tribute, Tom. I feel like cat people always have that one cat with whom the connection is unparalleled. For me it was Sonia. We adopted her as a skinny little runt kitten at the shelter and she quickly became the most special animal that I’ve ever had the pleasure to care for.
