Sending good energy, good vibes, and this picture of a donkey in Ireland for luck.

Breakfast today at Mountbarker. Unfortunately the first solid food I’ve had in 2 days. Got food poisoning or some sort of stomach infection while in Bundoran.

The drive from the west coast of Ireland to the east coast north of Dublin sucked. Long drive and got sick on the side of the road.

This sign reads better in a French accent, which is appropriate as the cafe I saw it at was run by two French ladies. 😆

Ate at McGarrigles in Bundoran tonight. Good food! I tried to eat light with the salad but then ruined it with the warm brownie and ice cream.

Harbor Cafe in Mullagmore. It’s been super windy and cold today so this hot food really hit the spot!

A bunch of supercars pulled up at the castle yesterday afternoon. Apparently there’s something called the “Muff Run” this weekend?

Some pictures from our hike on the Famine Pot trail…
September 19, 2025 at 6:16 PM
Took a little hike from the castle today and walked the Famine Pot trail nearby. Nearly 200 years ago people with very little (and not so little in the case of the Sultan of Turkey) we giving funds to try and get _something_ for the starving to eat.

Some fancy pants actually came to the castle today in a helicopter.

I don’t know that I could ever feel that self important. If I did, I would rather arrive in my personal jet pack.

High tea at the castle was delish and now I’m ready for a nap. Descriptions in the alt text.

I wanted to start from the top plate but I was informed by my wife we start from the bottom and work our way up.

Lough Eske Castle has a lot of cool statues on the grounds but this one is my wife’s favorite (probably mine too)

Another breakfast at Lough Eske Castle this morning. We have high tea this afternoon!

Went out of Donegal town and into Killybegs for a bit today to do some shopping and grab a bite at the highly recommended Seafood Shack. We can highly recommend it too!

We got soaked in the rain & took a short respite from being wet inside C. McCloone & Sons deli & bakery & got some delish sweets.

This, meanwhile was breakfast at Powerscourt. Trust me, it was miles better

Breakfast this morning at Lough Eske Castle. The mini pancakes were good, and the pastries but this place has nothing on the Powerscourt Hotel in Wicklow.

A tiny flower growing out of the wall of the ruins of Donegal Abbey. Outstretched and growing from the tiniest clod of dirt it can, it’s making it despite its surroundings and what it has to work with. Kinda describes how a lot of people are doing these days.
