Have we given any thought about what the future of America will look like if right-wing authoritarianism takes hold and in 20, 30, or 40 years, the government deliberately fails to act and weaponizes public policy as sea levels rise and costal cities go under water?
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis accused President Trump of playing “political games” Sunday after the Trump administration denied disaster declaration requests following wildfires and flooding in the state earlier this year. https://to.pbs.org/3Y9004f

We are not a fascist country yet, but we are seeing in real time how the sausage of American fascism gets made.
GLASHEEN: Antifa is our primary concern right now. That's the most immediate violent threat we're facing

BENNIE THOMPSON: Where is antifa headquartered?

GLASHEEN: ... ... ... we are building out the infrastructure right now

THOMPSON: What does that mean?

It might be more accurate to say looking at students as customers is not good, but the reality is universities do seem to view students as consumers, especially when state governments try to balance budgets by cutting spending on higher education.
YOUR STUDENTS ARE NOT YOUR CUSTOMERS.

Get the fuck out of education if that's the way you're talking about them.
Yes we all agree that this is the reason colleges are in trouble

A government committing extrajudicial killings of one group of people and going unpunished, while at the same time calling other people things like “garbage.”

What could go wrong?

I love living in a country where news about my country’s secretary of defense committing war crimes offers a pleasant distraction from news about my country’s leader being a pedophile.

I am bracing for establishment Democratic response to this: “we won’t let Trump distract us from what is really important: kitchen table issues.”
President Trump unleashed a xenophobic tirade against Somali immigrants on Tuesday during a publicly broadcast cabinet meeting, calling them “garbage” he does not want in the U.S. as he sought to refocus public attention on his anti-immigration rhetoric.

Washington loves a sex scandal. It’s a welcome distraction from the issues of the world and a chance to feel morally superior to the people caught, literally and metaphorically, with their pants down.

This is garbage, but it may be semi-useful garbage. It provides an escape route for those on the right like the Hitler-loving Young Republicans to say "We don't really love Hitler. The libtards were just mean to us." I can see enough Americans buying that bullshit. www.mediaite.com/politics/dav...

What are the chances that if the Democratic Party had a chance to pick up Marjorie Taylor Greene-type voters and that helped them win in critical elections, but had to throw one of their traditional constituencies under the bus to get those votes, they would do so?
November 17, 2025 at 2:09 AM
Once again, if you are a political party that has sold out particular blocs of your voting coalition in the past, you can reasonably expect those voters not to not want to vote again because for them it isn't "winning." Apparently though, the new Dem tactic is expanding who they deem expendable.
November 10, 2025 at 4:46 AM
I thought the collective action problem would be the major issue the Democratic Party would need to face to build and maintain a voting coalition to defeat MAGA's attempt to install fascism. Apparently, the Dems feel comfortable enough to tell their voting base generally to go and eat shit.
