Correction: WaybackMachine does seem to keep archives of the description at least, just not the comments. Seems it wasn't loading for me on some of the captures at first. It also does store a copy of the video surprisingly so it's still available there for now.

Again I feel very sorry all this happened for those that enjoyed the video. It was probably my second most watched video before being removed. I'm trying not to worry about it as much today by doing fun things instead but I barely got any sleep over this so I'll do my best.

An edited version of the video itself will most likely not have the same impact the initial upload did but at least it'll give me the chance to fix up a couple things with it and make it a bit nicer maybe.

Honestly though it is pretty annoying that when YouTube does remove a video through this process it also removes all the info about the copyright claims too, such as the timestamps of the issues they had. Note to self: always keep backup records of those yourself.

So yeah if this doesn't work out I can attempt to reupload the video later after making a lot of edits to avoid a second set of copyright claims. However I thought places like Wayback Machine would keep an archive of the description and comments at least. It does not sadly.

I honestly don't care about the copyright strike because I know my content is generally fair use and I haven't been uploading as much as I used to anyways. So I know the strike will go away in a few months. It's the removal of the video and its comments that upsets me more.

I've now attempted a counter-notification hoping to bring the video back but I'm not very hopeful. I'm so sorry to anyone who enjoyed that video and its discussions. I'd take it all back and stick with the initial copyright claims if I could but I don't think that's an option.

I do believe my usage of the anime clips in this context was fair use for various reasons, which is why I tried to fight it. But Kadokawa obviously doesn't see it that way. It sucks but that's just how it is. I just feel dumb for attempting to fight it and making things worse.

My reasons for its fair use is the transformative style myself and other anitubers apply to their videos (no original audio, short cut clips from multiple different episodes, orders of cuts rearranged, etc) along with adding my own educational commentary about the series.

The strike itself is seemingly my own fault for attempting to claim fair use. They had demonetized the vid and blocked it in Japan and I stupidly thought if I attempted to fight it they would either drop the claim or say no but let the video stay up. Kadokawa removed it instead.
