The current reality as told by others...

The horned shark lays an egg that is corkscrew in shape!

Most species lay eggs, called mermaid purses, that are similar in style of a rectangular-ish pouch.

Happy Nonbinary Day and Shark Awareness Day from your neighborhood trans, agender, shark person :)

I love learning about the sensory systems and mechanics of these amazing animals!

Got this awesome pin from someone who gave a fantastic talk! Finding new science people always makes conferences worthwhile :)

Opposite of my beloved wobbegong sharks, I nearly went all black attire today lol.

I promise I'm friendly, even if you can't see my smile behind the mask!

If you're at #jmih25 #aes25 please wave hello if you want to chat about #shark (and relatives) neuro, biomechanics, anatomy, or behaviour! 🤟 🦈

I had no expectations to love this city as much as I now do, but it has won me over.

Neighbors have become friends, dancers became family, and new friends explored and introduced me to being in the city at nearly all hours for dancing, walks, food, yoga, and more!

When the work elevator lights aren't on and the only light comes from the red floor number, it really sets the "horror movie" vibes.

(For some reason my camera kept adjusting the lighting in the photo bc the light was *not* this bright lol.)

Anyway, it set good vibes for the day :)

If someone tells you "we all have the same number of hours in a week" - ignore them

I spend 3+ hours a week, since 2013, exclusively on ankle pt exercises so I can *walk* every day. (Removing the pt time immediately after surgery)

We all have unique things but it makes our weeks unequal.

The flow tank requires a big step up to access, so I've started to wear my 'active' clothing to work.

My jeans lacked the flexibility for me to *easily* step up on one foot, ~knee height, while moving a #shark into the flow tank.

Ya'll, I can't go back to jeans, I'm too comfy now every day at work

I unmask at work 2x's a day, very quickly. Always to start hoses 😂 (iykyk)

I do love my sharks! 🦈 🐟

Trying to post the video again, hoping it plays this time!

When people ask if my sharks recognize me or know when it's feeding time: I can't say for certain if they recognize me, but they definitely know the difference between me entering the room for other reasons vs feeding them.

Photo: shark being chill ~4hrs before food
Video: about 2min after I enter

It's also commonly called the Blotched wobbegong or Sombre Carpet shark.

This species is often found in rocky reefs and in depths around 35 meters.

🦈 🧪 🐟 🦑

It's #WobbegongWed! Today's thread is about the cobbler #wobbegong #shark (Sutorectus tentaculatus)!

It is the only species in the Genus Sutorectus. One unique feature is the warty-like tubercles along the back and it's orange/red coloration.

I'm reminded of this line too often, and your post here made me think of it again. Thoughts are so important and hold so much weight, they can be very powerful.

For #WobbegongWed, as far as we know, #wobbegong #sharks reproduce via aplacental viviparity (formerly known as ovoviviparous)!

Aplacental viviparity meant that eggs are formed and hatch in utero then the animal gives birth to a live pup.

Well, these 2 pups have a favorite corner lol. Despite having a tank big enough to roam in they have their favorite places now. This one seems to prefer the front left section this week :)

I know Friday is gaining a lot of support, but #trans people are under heavy attack right now too. Losing access to their own science work, passports, activities, safe spaces, and more!

Please, show up for us too.
