Surely unfreezing fuel duty alongside introducing pay-per-mile for EVs would be the best option?! Incentivises more towards EVs, helping meet EV mandate, whilst also bringing in more tax money...

a) EVs aren't that much heavier than ICE equivalents.
b) 'Road Tax' doesn't exist, the roads are maintained using Council Tax money.
c) What you're implying as 'Road Tax' is 'VED' and EVs do get charged VED.
d) You haven't read the article; is about a tax offsetting loses from less Fuel Duty income.
