Journalist @davidsirota.com says that while the U.S. is "immersed in corruption" in a way that feels inevitable, it is the result of a decadeslong "master plan" by the wealthy to deregulate campaign finance and weaken anti-bribery laws.

🚨 A bipartisan group of lawmakers has introduced federal anti-SLAPP legislation.

This important law would protect journalists and the public by providing a means to dismiss frivolous lawsuits intended to silence criticism and speech in federal court.

This echoes the devastating truths explored in my documentary Rethink Afghanistan.

It’s a stark reminder of the need to learn from these failures.

It's not a permissible purpose, but I think one of the reasons the government seeks out pretrial detention is to try to break a defendant and coerce a plea.
The Espionage Act continues to be sharpened as an unconstitutional and draconian weapon against #whistleblower & media leak cases. Already notoriously difficult for defense, pretrial detention makes things even harder.

The public has a right to know.
My second report for @kgosztola.bsky.social The Dissenter on the Asif Rahman case.

Rahman is accused of releasing classified documents about Israeli military capabilities, potential to strike Iran.

He denies the charges, but is being held in pretrial detention.
