McNally Editions recently reissued Todd Grimson’s 1996 Gothic slacker vampire noir STAINLESS. Goddamn, it’s so great. Highly recommend picking it up. Blurbs from James Ellroy & Katherine Dunn (who said it’s like if Raymond Chandler or Flannery O’Connor wrote a vampire novel).

My best score ever off the library quarter sale rack. A first edition of one of my top ten favorite books, THE STORIES OF BREECE D’J PANCAKE! Still reeling from this find, which was buried—for some reason—in the woebegone nonfiction section.

Out now! I have a new story in this anthology called “Arlene.” Think a mix of VERTIGO, PSYCHO, and REAR WINDOW in late ’80s southern Brooklyn. I hope you’ll pick it up! titanbooks.com/72625-birds-...

In this month’s installment of my @southwestreview.bsky.social movie column, I wrote about OVER THE EDGE, THE DRILLER KILLER, THE HUNGRY GHOSTS, and BLOOD IN BLOOD OUT. Also included is a little detour about an axe I used to keep handy back in college. southwestreview.com/i-wake-up-st...

Just finished rereading Kim Addonizio’s MY DREAMS OUT IN THE STREET. One of my favorite novels ever. Addonizio writes beautifully about broken people moving through a broken world. Such a heartbreaking & profound book full of gorgeous language & unforgettable details.
