Another badge, haven’t done one of these in years. May struggle tomorrow but it was a good way to spend an audacious Sunday.
And no it wasn’t 200km in a narrow boat on an aqueduct that would have been particularly audacious.

So good to be hearing about the Quality Code (from Nick Watmough) @qaa.ac.uk and its ongoing relevance for doctoral education (I’m already a fan of the code but it’s good to be reminded) @ukcge.bsky.social

No support at tonight’s Laibach action but apparently they are doing two sets. The warmup is a two-bar loop which I’m going to be listening to for about another hour I think.
No, it stopped, and changed a bit to cheers from the crowd…

Nansen is very much a #catsofmastodon cat but it is #caturday there too so he’s made an exception to appear here for once.

My white whale was shelving in my current office (the only previous academic inhabitant had kept an other office - I gave up my office in Music about 15 years ago…). Took quite some time but the result was transformational as the former view from my desk was this:

This is today and my wonderful colleague Miller Alonso Camargo-Veloso so deserves this recognition. He isn’t just an outstanding supervisor, he’s also part of my leadership team and an expert on water, sanitation and waste. @universityofleeds.bsky.social #THEawards

Last night’s lengthy exploit was this - contained many surprises and was much more fluid than I was expecting, stylistically and topically. Included some subtle, humorous and thoughtful uses of AI, but as ever for me it was Anderson’s dynamic storytelling that shone through…

Here’s my view about halfway to work, sadly soon to be dark at the time I need to ride it! Nice All City, shame they’ve departed, my partner led a ride for them when they visited their main seller in Manchester a few years ago and they were good people (and she has a Space Horse).

I joined it ages ago but there’s very few active academics who stayed after the first exodus…
However, so far it has delivered me an invited blog post about one of my favourite records and a fine ginger and white cat. And lots of thoughtful interaction….

Going to this lecture tomorrow, both to support The Brilliant Club but also to hear what Chris Husbands has to say… (I think it’s sold out now…)
