if you are in touch with the finder, have her contact the clinic that implanted the chip to see if they have a more current number or an emergency number. Often, ppl forget to update numbers and they are reassigned when they change them.

Kittens don’t have their final personality until they’re older. Don’t worry if a name doesn’t materialize right away. You’ll fond the right one. He’ll tell you.

Hooray for getting her spayed as a kitten!

Lol! Sorry about that. Well, the advice is probably good for dogs, too. Hope she'll be OK.

Thank you for doing that! You may have saved the kitten’s life. So many cats and kittens get killed when they escape the grasp of their caregiver. Carriers are a must for travel. Wish more people realized that.

It made him a little crazy, so we limited how often we would use it. He was always able to maintain his weight, just not gain to an appropriate weight. There’s nothing wrong with him according to vets. We have just accepted this and let him be how he is so long as he doesn’t lose. Talk to your vet.

I have a cat that is chronically underweight because he doesn’t eat enough. It’s not because he dislikes his food. We tried everything under the sun. What I SEE when he eats looks like his food doesn’t smell right. And I think this is a disorder. For awhile, we used cyproheptidine to make him eat.

When she’s better, make sure she gets her vaccine boosters, stays indoors and has plenty to keep her happy which, by the sounds of it, I’m sure you provide in abundance :)

Most cats can clear an upper-respiratory condition on their own, like we do. Just watch for nasal and eye discharge, not eating, lethargy or gagging and swallowing which can indicate post-nasal drip. Any of those should prompt a vet visit. Many cats have upper resp that can be triggered by stress.

One of mine eats lettuce. Ignores potted plants as long as he gets his daily salad.

Sincere condolences. I get it. Losing a cat that age is hard because they’ve been your best friend their whole lives sometimes. Lost my sweet 20 y.o. a year ago in the fall and I still miss her like crazy. Photos and videos help. Especially the silly ones.

If you don't have other dogs and can work with a rescue dog, maybe Melia will have the IT factor you give her. She's been at a shelter for 800 days. Just trying to help get the word out.

Next year is just around the corner. Why not consider Melia, who has been in a shelter for 800 days? Just trying to help her find her person.

Just trying to help out in the quest to find Melia a home. Not sure where you are, but she's available in NY.

Aww, sweet. A lady has been trying to get Melia a home for Christmas because it's been 800 days she's been at the shelter. Any dog that gets adopted is a lucky dog. Good luck to you!
November 30, 2025 at 2:53 AM
I've started providing a Melia link directly to posts that say people are looking to adopt a dog. Never know where the people are, but maybe one will pan out.
November 30, 2025 at 2:02 AM
Hope they're aware. I do my best to get to know people to rule out that kind of behaviour. Unfortunately, most large shelters don't have that luxury.

I don't know where "here" is, but perhaps speaking to rescues and shelters to address the problem by using adoption agreements that outline the animals are to be returned to them, if not wanted, along with getting a refund as incentive. Better than what's going on.
November 29, 2025 at 7:24 PM
Hopefully, those rescues have a "no questions asked" return policy.

Borrow a plastic pet carrier. Put the kitten in it and in the main area of the home for an hour a few times a day When you can supervise. Ensure Cyclone has a word you can use to get him to ignore the kitten. If the dog is that dangerous and you can’t keep the kitten safe, rehome the kitten.

It’s incredible that Türkiye has largely, historically, ignored the problem and suddenly, there is no option other than starvation? C’mon, a lot of those animals are social. They can’t fend for themselves. There are humane solutions. I’m sure people are not OK with this.

Bengals are still resisting domestication. Super high-maintenance. Unfortunately, many people are drawn to their looks but abandon them for their behaviours. We used to be puzzled when we’d find homeless Bengals. People don’t do their homework, so they toss them out for climbing, wailing, etc.

I have a cat like that. So funny to watch him sit by the fridge waiting for his salad.
