Basically understanding that a mfa is not necessarily a professional degree (for the art market). I think you can gain a lot of other skills tho, which can be valuable in other paths. But yes, no one needs a mfa in studio art lol.

Agreed. On the other hand I feel like most who choose to apply to a mfa program go even if they get this advice (me included 🤡) so I feel like more importantly they can navigate apply to a program with the intention of alternate revenue sources and/or attending a program with funding.
