Brooklyn via the suburbs of Detroit
The mashup of the Scottish-American Tartan Day Parade going up Sixth Ave with the Hands Off march going down Fifth Ave yielded some excellent results.

I brought this beast to the studio this weekend. Leaning against a tree while I was opening the back of the car some buzzy little fella was attracted to the yellow.

Spotted at the art supply store: The Kolormondo Mini Color Globe 3D color wheel. This seems like a good thing to have in the studio.
But after I punched it out and assembled it I thought it would make more sense to reassemble it somewhat randomly in a way that it wasn’t intended.

Artist & friend Charles Mayton.
If you’re in the Minneapolis area, Charles has an opening of his solo exhibition of paintings – ‘Frame-Play’ – at the David Petersen Gallery this Saturday, February 8 from 6-8pm.
Go there because I can’t. See the work. Say hi to Charles.

Walking to the studio today I noticed this piece of metal in the gutter that must have fallen off a construction vehicle. I brought it to the studio and cleaned it up. It’s solid steel. Precise geometry. Good edges. Satisfying heft. Now on my desk next to the bowl that holds pushpins.
