Lua might be a nice walk in the park in comparison to Rust, and I'm guessing you've probably embedded it in a game or other before. Seems there's a browser runtime too.

Have you scratched the Rust itch yet? This would be a mighty learning project. You could do the CLI cross platform and/or a UI that runs natively (cross platform) and in the browser, e.g. github.com/emilk/egui egui is also embeddable, e.g. into the Beast emulator maybe?
