if you like it i totally understand why and i love that for you but also god damn it was not easy to get through 2 hours of that

not counting things like anime that very clearly diverged from the source before the halfway point
like there have been films based on books i read where i just went "no thanks i read it, i'd be bored"

the directing and acting and everything were good and surprises aren't the only thing that make a story worthwhile! but there's a certain nick furyfication that comes with knowing blind villager is gonna show up that undercuts some of the emotional gravity
